Combined Districts Kart Club kicked off its 2019 race season with a bang.
With lots of challenges thrown up and new systems to deal with the CDKC team worked overtime to deliver a race meeting that met its usual high standard of organisation and created a great day out for Karter’s at Lithgow City Raceway.
New rules, new entry system, new timing system and new tyres and a new safety light system, “what could possibly go wrong”. The answer was, not too much. 81 entries faced qualifying and were treated to practice, qualifying, 3 heats of racing and a final. The first kart out the gate for practice was on time at 8.00am and the last race finished by 3.30.
The new Maxxis tyre was a hit with competitors, notable feedback from entrants in the ultra-competitive Senior Performance class with the second-place kart using tyres that had already done and Orange Club Day, the Southern Stars at Canberra and backed up for the Lithgow meet. The third-place kart had tyres on that had done the Orange Club Day and around 60 laps of practice prior to racing at Lithgow. Even the track maintenance man noted much less rubber to be blown off the track after Saturday practice. KNSW we think you may have picked a winner.
Racing was close and clean all day with great fields, with Tag Restricted heavy having the biggest class of the day at 15.
